Thomas Mielenz

Born on September 14, Thomas Mielenz began drumming at age 15, inspired by rock legends Bertram Engel and Phil Rudd of AC/DC. His passion quickly evolved into purpose, leading him to graduate from an East German music school, where he built a solid foundation in technique and musicality.

Following the fall of the Berlin Wall, Thomas immersed himself in the heavier side of music, joining a death metal band near Berlin. During this era, he shared stages with international heavyweights like Benediction, Dismember, Torture, and Kreator — many of them signed to the iconic Nuclear Blast label.

He later co-founded a local band and remained musically active until relocating to Dubai. Once in the UAE, he embedded himself in the vibrant local scene, performing with several groups including Fables of Cantt, Sandstorm, and Faux-Asis. In 2016, he joined the rock outfit Vin Sinners — a creative force he considers the mothership of his musical journey. Alongside VS, he also plays with the Dubai-based band Stereosun.

Thomas’s drumming style combines technical precision with raw energy, shaped by influences such as Mike Portnoy, Glenn Power, Nicko McBrain, Nigel Glockler, and the enduring spirit of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWoBHM).
